Zingerman's Creamery

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Zingerman's Creamery was founded in 2001 by John Loomis, Ari Weinzweig, and Paul Saginaw. The Creamery is part of the Zingerman's Community of Businesses (or ZCoB in Zingerman's -speak) which is a project started by Ari and Paul, founders of Zingerman's Delicatessen. After seeing the success of their Deli, and pondering how to expand their business without becoming victims of the franchise-world and losing their souls in the process, they decided to instead invest in talented people, and give them the opportunity to form new, independent businesses under the Zingerman's umbrella. John Loomis had been a cheesemaker before he worked as head cheesemonger at the Deli, and longed to get his hands back into the vat. He started Zingerman's creamery making fresh cheeses, and soon expanded into making mold-ripened cheese, natural rind cheese, and gelato as well! Zingerman's Creamery works with a a local cow dairy and a local goat dairy to source the milk for their delicious creations.
