Blakesville Creamery opened its doors for business in October of 2020, and is the newest creamery in the Saxelby Cheesemongers lineup! Cheesemaker Veronica Pedraza has been a part of the Saxelby Cheese family for a long time - she worked as a cheesemonger at our original Essex Market shop in between stints as a cheesemaker. Our Blakesville Creamery Collection includes three delicious goat cheeses crafted on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Washington, Wisconsin:
Afterglow - A creamy young goat cheese washed with New Glarus Belgian Red beer, a fruit beer made with Door County cherries. Fruity, funky, and yeasty, with a tart, creme fraiche-y undertone.
St Germain - An aged goat's milk tomme with a rustic, earthy rind and delicate, nutty, milky, and floral flavor.
Sunny Ridge - A semi-firm goat cheese washed with Is/Was Brewing's Finer Points of Bad Behavior - a sour beer featuring Klug Farm peaches from Michigan. The beer washing gives the rind a tawny, peach colored glow, and imparts a fruity and ever so slightly effervescent flavor.
Includes approx 1.5 lb of cheese, serves 8-10 people.
