Jersey cows are known for their high-protein and high-calcium milk, which adds a uniquely rich and buttery quality to cheese. As wheels of Sugar Loaf ripen, some of their crème fraîche-like qualities transform into woodsy, mushroomy notes that round out a perfect, indulgent drum. Pairs perfectly with some artisan chocolate or wildflower honey.

Nettle Meadow Farm Sugar Loaf

I have had the Sugar Loaf before from Saxelbys and my expectations have not been disappointed. Enthralling aroma, creamy but still a little crumbly in the center, I could have let it age a week more, with a sweet, slight mushroomy and tangy taste on the tongue. Just outside Lake George, New York, Nettle Meadow Farm and Dairy is worth the visit if your every in that part of the country. A+ is given to the Sugar Loaf cheese as well as the Kunik.
