Ploughgate Creamery is the brainchild and business of Marisa Mauro, a young and accomplished dairywoman who has been making cheese and butter in Vermont since she was a teenager. In 2013, Marisa won the right to purchase Bragg Hill Farm from the Vermont Land Trust, an organization devoted to preserving Vermont's working landscape, and decided to start a butter business. Ploughgate's cultured butter is some of the best butter being produced in the country, and is revered by home cooks as well as New York's best chefs.
