Throughout history, women have played a crucial role in developing some of the world's finest cheeses! In America in particular, the artisan cheese revolution was pioneered by women goat cheese makers in the 1970's and 80's. Our Whey Cool Women collection includes four cheeses, one box of crackers, and a jar of savory tapenade from some of the most talented women in the business. Collection includes:
Mini Kunik - One of our top selling cheeses! A triple-creme blend of goat’s milk and cow cream made by Sheila Flanagan and Lorraine Lambiase at Nettle Meadow Farm.
Ascutney Mountain - A golden hued cow’s milk cheese packed with flavors ranging from roasted nuts to tropical fruits made by Cobb Hill Farm.
Tres Bonne - With a golden wax rind, and a fresh, minerally, and slightly sweet flavor, Tres Bonne is reminiscent of a fine goat gouda and is made by Anne Blouin of Boston Post Dairy.
Appalachian - A raw cow's milk cheese with a buttery, nutty, savory flavor made by mother-daughter team Helen and Kat Feete at Meadow Creek Dairy. Meadow Creek Dairy is one of the only farms that Saxelby Cheesemongers works with that is a seasonal grass-based dairy, meaning they only make cheese when the cows are out on pasture from mid-March through mid-November
Jan's Farmhouse Crisps - Rustic sweet and savory crackers studded with dried cranberries and pistachios - a perfect addition to any cheese plate!
Spread-mmms Tapenade - Savory olive tapenade made by hand in Harlem by Rebecca Montero with garlic, rosemary, and a secret blend of spices! Makes a perfect accompaniment to soft, creamy, buttery cheeses.
