Cheddar, one of the world's most popular cheeses, may have originated in the British Isles, but at Saxelby Cheesemongers we like to think that the Americans have really nailed it on the cheddar front. Cheddar is both a noun and a verb - it's a type of cheese and also what is done to the curds during the cheesemaking process to bring about cheddar's signature sharpness and crumbly-yet creamy texture. There are so many different styles, textures, and flavor profiles of cheddar cheese that we decided to create a collection to showcase them all! Includes four hand cut wedges:
Shelburne 2yr Cheddar - A tangy, onion-y, and classically sharp block cheddar from beautiful and historic Shelburne Farms.
Dunbarton Blue - A butterscotch-y, peppery and mushroomy cheddar/blue hybrid from Roelli Cheese. A true American original!
Vault 5 - A cave-aged collaboration between Jasper Hill Farm and Cabot Creamery that is dense, fudgy, and caramelly.
Cabot Clothbound - Quite possibly the king of American cheddars. Tastes like Parmigiano Reggiano meets cheddar! This collaboration between Jasper Hill and Cabot is a bandaged, cave aged cheddar aged for over one year, resulting in a nutty, brothy, and savory flavor profile.
Includes over 1 lb of cheese and serves 6-10 people.
Please note that if any product(s) are out of stock we will substitute with something similar and equally delicious!
